Get Off To A Great Start!
This is year is going to be better
for my business than last year! This Is Great News! How do we make real growth
happen?
Plan, Implement, Track, Revise
It is important to create a process for growth in your
business this year. So many times our businesses experience growth, but as
owners and marketing professionals we are unsure how to replicate and improve
on last year’s performance. The Internet & web marketing have become
cornerstones for growing most lines of business. Create a clear strategy and
goal system to help you understand the hows and whys of growing your business.
Then work the plan over the next 12 months and analyze performance to determine
the overall improvments the program provided to your business.
Create A Marketing Plan
Creating a digital marketing plan
for your business can be key in getting the Internet and the power of search
working for your business. Create a budget and create clear goals that are to
be attained in the coming year.
Here are a five tips for creating a
reasonable budget and strategy for your digital marketing plan:
- Create a set of goals to achieve during the next 12 months.
- Create a budget that includes advertising on Google AdWords. AdWords can deliver fast performance gains while you continue to work your plan.
- Add room in the budget for creating more content on your web property or properties. This can pay large dividends in social and organic traffic.
- Include Software expenses. Many web based softwares are now offered as services. Don’t forget to include room in the budget for partners like Constant Contact and HootSuite.
- Don’t forget to budget for analysis. Analysis can be a key part of understanding how to grow your business. Devote a portion of your budget to analyze your plan over the next 12 months.
Implementing The Plan
Start of with a big push in the beginning
of the year. The first quarter will be key to getting the ball rolling on
success. There will be steady implementation during the year, but getting the
project off the ground allows for faster results. Implement both Social
Marketing and Google AdWords early if possible. Getting a website up to speed
may take all year, but having a key conversion page with clear conversions
points should also be handled as early as possible. Schedule time with your
marketing firm or team monthly to keep a continual work flow. At Lime Pi Digital,
we like to have a meeting at least every month that includes going over
reports, showing completed changes and planning revisions and deliverables for
the next working month.
Tracking The Plan
Tools like Google Analytics can
really show where your site is performing and where it is not even being seen.
Implement an analytics software at the very beginning of the year. After a few
weeks, data will begin to pour in from the campaigns and from the marketing
work being completed. Start early in month two to determine the success of the
first month’s work. Create a very scheduled meeting to analyze results from
previous periods. Looks for success and weakness points in the data. Create an
action plan to replicate successes and strengthen weakness.
Here are a few tips to consider when
making action items for revision:
- Make sure there is enough data to show changes are necessary.
- Don’t be too drastic on changes. Changes that are too drastic at once can be equivalent to starting over. Look for items that work on a project and do not revise them, try to emulate their successes.
- Look at running web experiments as a possible revision testing process.
Revise Your Plan
The analyzed data should be showing
all sorts of issues and strengths with your campaigns. Take the action items
created in the tracking meetings and implement changes as quickly as possible.
This will allow the revisions to be tracked and analyzed during the next
tracking meeting.
